JEONJU lab marks a new beginning this year.

JEONJU Cinema Fund has been renamed JEONJU lab and expanded to cover contents in general—not just feature and documentary films. In addition, further emphasis has been placed on the mentoring program to provide opportunities for participants to receive feedback at the planning and development stage. The newly established JEONJU short program offers support for short films produced in North Jeolla Province. This year, 10 out of 114 projects were selected as finalists for JEONJU lab. In terms of the applications, feature film projects were greater in number—compared to documentary films. However, several documentaries about society and ego fiercely endeavored to reveal themselves. The feature and short-form projects were marked by a strong presence of female directors and scriptwriters. The thorough and detailed production plans and scripts of the selected projects provided a flawless basis for the jury’s decisions. In the future, the selected projects are expected to become more producible with the help of the mentors.

Next year, JEONJU lab will continue to consider various ways of supporting filmmakers to help them on their journeys of producing contents.
