JEONJU Cinema Project is a flagship program of JEONJU IFF, whose purpose is to boost the production of low budget feature films. The program discovers and invests in production of creative and ambitious feature film projects from Korea and abroad. Selected international films will not only receive investment for production but also be supported with domestic distribution by JEONJU IFF.

JEONJU Cinema Project: Next Edition is a competition program to select films for JEONJU Cinema Project. Out of the submitted films, they choose films to be pitched and through the pitch evaluation during the program, two films from each domestic and abroad are selected as JEONJU Cinema Project with the production investment of up to 100 million Korean Won. Selected projects shall be completed by the beginning of JEONJU IFF the following year, and will have premieres at the festival.

There have been a total of 33 films produced (11 international and 22 Korean) via JEONJU Cinema Project. The 25th JEONJU IFF will release four films of Lucky, Apartment (KANGYU Garam), DIRECT ACTION (Ben RUSSELL, Guillaume CAILLEAU), Nothing in Its Place (Burak ÇEVIK), and When Clouds Hide the Shadow (José Luis TORRES LEIVA).

In 2023, Samsara (Lois PATIÑO) won the Best Feature Film Award in the Encounters section of Berlinale, and DIRECT ACTION won the same award this year. With two consecutive wins by JEONJU Cinema Project, the program is attracting both Korean and international acclaim.

In addition, in celebration of the 10th anniversary of JEONJU Cinema Project, a global screening tour was held from December 2023 to April 2024 at prestigious art cinemas with a long history and tradition in Europe, Central and South America, including Leopoldo Lugones Cinema in Argentina, the Queen Sofía National Museum Art Centre in Spain, the Arsenal Cinema in Germany, and the Cineteca Nacional in Mexico.
