The pain and anguish of care... A story about enduring reality through family, all the while liberating each other from the exhausting life with no end in sight.

SYNOPSIS

After Xiao Fang and Wonyoung stumble across each other at Xiao Fang's father's nursing home, the two cherish each other's encounter. As if they had known each other for a long time, they understood each other well and believed they were in love. They tie the knot in great haste and start a sweet honeymoon life. The marriage, however, is only a small part of each of their plans. The beginning you think is not the true beginning. The real beginning has already begun quietly without you knowing. Sudden breakup with Xiao Fang brings Wonyoung one step closer to the truth, but is that truth the real truth? Or is it just the truth he wants to believe? He will carry the shackle that is 'family', and continue to live in the vortex of truth-seeking.

DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT

Alcestis is a story that deals with the social problem of family care for a single child due to the increase of nuclear families. Living as a nursing family for a long time involves mental and physical pain that love alone cannot endure. Unlike in the beginning, you only become more and more lethargic in the rough tunnel where you do not know the end. What would be the last choice of a human being obsessed with the desire to escape from the present reality? Are humans beings that force others to sacrifice in order to comfort themselves? Even though a family, is parental support a duty or a choice for the children? Through those of whom the truth itself has become meaningless due to the weight of their lives, we intend to make a film to reflect on families in modern society and think about the truth of love for each other as well as its seamy side.
