LOGLINE

At the end of a lost village, a lost father, and lost memory, there is a sound that shall not disappear.

SYNOPSIS

Juyoung films a disappearing village in search of memories of her missing father. She reconstructs a piece of memory while searching for other forgotten memories. She visits her mother, who is at the center of memories of the violence she suffered as a child, conducts an interview with her, and sets out to find her father, who has been missing for ten years. Between her father, who only wished to die, and his mother, who wanted to live, Juyoung erased her memories only “to survive.” Now, Juyoung actively interprets the past in the present to “live her own life.” She explores memories and oblivion, the nature of violence, and the structure of the mind to draw pain as a tool of hope.

DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT

This film follows the personal memory of 'Juyoung' (director herself) and explores social and structural issues such as redevelopment issues, child abuse, and sexuality revealed in mother-daughter relationships. It follows sensitive social issues such as intimate violence, such as child abuse, and issues of sexuality through exploration of the structure of the mind, human psychology, and consciousness itself. Thus, all these themes are connected to a single story called 'memory (sound)', and it is expanded to the stories of various people by discovering a connection with others in the memory of pain.
