21 days after a baby was born. The baby falls ill after the father visits the funeral.
After a baby is born, a straw rope is hung over the front door. Woojin feels unprepared for fatherhood. He is scared of the crying newborn and overwhelmed by his wife who shows little understanding. Even when he feels tired, his baby’s smile fills him with new energy. One day, Woojin hears about the death of his ex-girlfriend, Seyoung. He gets ready to go to her funeral, but his wife stops him, saying it’s the baby’s 21st day in life soon. It was the 19 day after the baby’s birth. However, Woojin dismisses it as superstition and attends the funeral.
After he returns from the funeral, strange things happen and eventually, the baby falls ill—as if cursed with bad luck brought on by the visit to the funeral. Woojin goes back to the funeral and attends the coffin rites. He becomes convinced that Se-young is stealing the breaths of his baby.
This film deals with the fear of bad luck experienced at funerals, while at the same time exploring the anxiety that accompanies pregnancy and childbirth, not to mention the responsibilities of parenthood. Why are young people today afraid of parenting? The story begins with a young family with imperfect ties but gets expanded into the issue of starting and ending a relationship. On the whole, Seire portrays the weight of responsibility in human relationships.
