Christmas Rangmyeon
Jeong-hye, who has celebrated Christmas every year without a boyfriend, meets a man who will break that jinx.
Christmas without a boyfriend was a long-time jinx for Jeong-hye. She goes on a trip to find Pyongyang naengmyeon restaurants. While she is returning to Seoul, Jeong-hye suddenly makes an unexpected choice. Sailors get together to enjoy daytime drinks with freshly caught seafood and pork belly after finishing their sea work in the early morning. The small scenes of their lives give a new impetus to Jeong-hye's life, which was repeated like a machine in a factory. Driven by such an atmosphere, she stays for a day and accidentally discovers a Pyongyang “Rangmyeon” restaurant run by a North Korean defector in a village at the edge of the sea. From the signboard at the entrance, this restaurant has a different vibe from the naengmyeon restaurants she has been looking for all over the country. There, she meets a man who will break her Christmas jinx.
The Christmas I remembered as a child was like a fairy tale.
Now, instead of a carol I can't hear on the street, I get a take away dinner while listening to the songs on the playlist with wireless earbuds, and bask in my serene bedroom. Still, we look forward to Christmas every year. Time has passed, but the memories of that time remain, and even if the reality is not easy, our Christmas will be snowing and warm. A fairy tale-like moment will surely come someday, so isn't it exciting that Christmas comes every year?
