I see a picture of female workers at a factory in Yeongdeungpo 100 years ago. Where did all those women go?

The story begins with a picture from a hundred years ago. I found out that countless women worked in factories in Yeongdeungpo. After the National Mobilization Law in 1938, many rural women forcibly arrived at Yeongdeungpo by train to “recruitment” to provide the labor needed to support the war. Once they arrived, their days were filled with high-intensity work. Due to the dust of the textile factory, the female workers were always unwell. If they ran away because they couldn't stand the hard work, they were caught, and they searched for food in garbage because of starving. When killed at work, their bodies were secretly dumped and replaced by new girls. Most of the factories in Yeongdeungpo have now closed, and have been replaced with a puzzling composite of apartments and department stores and other context-less spaces or empty ruins of what used to be. I begin my search for the traces of the factory girls in Yeongdeungpo and eventually meet the survivors themselves. They begin narrating the forced recruitment, factory work, and their life since liberation to today.

I encountered a century-old picture of female factory workers Yeongdeungpo. where did all the factory girls go, and what kind of unrecorded life did they have? Although their stories were orally passed on like an urban myth, the place no longer had traces of the factory girls who lived and worked there during the Japanese colonial times. We're used to colonial period, but do we really know them well?
I wish to record the life of the factory girls with their language and their memory, and share their stories through film with those who remember, or wish to remember, the presence and the years of the girls in Yeongdeungpo.
