Can temporary workers avoid and survive from a monster attacked their sausage factory?

SYNOPSIS

There is a sausage factory on the hillside. A 40-year-old woman named Eunyoung is the first in line to be converted to a full-time employee thanks to her hard work. However, when she has a nosebleed and complains of a fever one day, she is forced to quit. Along with Sujin, a 30-year-old woman, many factory workers apply to work overtime over the holidays to fill Eunyoung’s shoes. Then somebody starts bleeding from their nose and turns into a monster—attacking people indiscriminately. Driven by their survival instincts, people betray and exploit each other, and Eunyoung’s secret is revealed. The dream of landing a full-time position no longer matters. A fight for survival ensues inside the remote factory.

DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT

We live in a complex world where the wage and welfare benefits that you receive depend on the status and form of your employment?whether it’s temporary or permanent, or direct or indirect. Under the term “the flexibility of labor”, many people feel apprehensive about their unstable future. Every day in Korea, an average of six people lose their lives in industrial accidents, which inevitably fills the working environment with tension and fear. I aim to draw the sympathy of the audience by unraveling this harsh reality. The film reflects my interest in such monster films as Alien, Pan's Labyrinth, and The Thing.

DIRECTOR
MYOUNG Sejin
Born in Busan and raised in Seoul. She is particularly fond of tragic stories where a moment of relief after one misfortune is followed by another greater misfortune. In the belief that only horror films allow such endings, she has been writing a series of horror stories. She majored in production design at university and recently graduated from Korea National University of Arts with a master’s degree.
