A newly appointed teacher at a juvenile facility discovers a violent young boy’s extraordinary talent in writing.

SYNOPSIS

Jimin, a newly hired teacher at a juvenile facility, recognizes an extraordinary talent in the writing of Kangjun, a violent young offender. As he delves into Kangjun’s deeply personal stories of despair and isolation, he finds himself unexpectedly moved. Captivated by both the raw honesty and undeniable brilliance of Kangjun’s words, Jimin becomes determined to nurture his talent. In turn, Kangjun, wary and guarded, begins to let his walls down. But when the true reason behind Jimin’s interest is revealed, the fragile trust they built shatters, leaving only anger and betrayal in its wake.

DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT

The Boy’s Diary follows a teacher who, through his encounters with a juvenile inmate, is forced to confront his own inner world. Meanwhile, a troubled young boy discovers a world beyond crime through art.<br> Though their journey is filled with hardships that push them to their limits, they ultimately find trust and support in each other. This film seeks to explore how a single act of belief and support can be the spark that changes a life forever.

JEONG Hanjin
Jeong Hanjin graduated from the Korea National University of Arts. In 2013, his short film Sweet Temptation won the Korean Short Film Competition Grand Prize at the 14th JEONJU International Film Festival. In 2016, he won the Excellence Award at the Korea Story Contest for Heomdo and has since worked with various production companies on multiple screenwriting projects. In 2017, he worked on I Can Speak as an assistant director. He is currently developing his feature film.

HAN Eunyoung 
Han Eunyoung graduated from the Korea National University of Arts, majoring in film, and has been actively working as a producer. In 2013, she directed the short film Breathe Me, which was invited to Semaine de la Critique at the Cannes Film Festival and several international film festivals. She later worked on feature films, serving as an associate producer for Ransomed (2023) and as a producer for Sister (2025). She is currently working at Windup Film.
